can one know anything? After all, there are so many ways of looking at things that it is hard to know when something is concrete and when it is flexible.
Yet, the questioning of knowledge is something that has been done for quite some time and one can even go back to the early days of philosophy when Aristotle and
Plato contemplated that very subject. When evaluating Aristotle and Platos ideas about knowledge, it pays to look at the theory of forms and how each embraced the concept of the
form. In this arena, the primary difference between Plato and Aristotles ideas is that Aristotle saw one world, or one reality, whereas Plato suggested that this is not the
case. In fact, there are many truths. One can agree that the primary difference that exists between the two theorists is vast, even though they do not disagree on every
point. The idea that there is just one objective right way of doing things and on the other hand, there are many truths, is an enormous difference. Hence, Platos view
would have trouble with certainty. Although Plato and Aristotle agreed on certain things, they had completely different takes in terms of the subject of forms. While Plato held a
dual realms theory, Aristotle saw form and matter as existing in the same realm. In discussing forms, Platos cave allegory helps to understand the dual nature of the world that
he embraced. The cave allegory is quite well known and has been used by many to interpret Platos philosophy. In the allegory, humans are born and live in a cave,
but they are chained and shackled. They can see light only in the distance. In some way one can compare this to how humans contemplate form. It is not easy.
