his legacy remain ancient and mysterious, leaving the most powerful legacy in the form of a great pyramid in Palenque. The following paper examines the life and achievements of King
Pacal. King Pacal "King Pacal was born in the year 603 A.D. and is said to have reigned for 67 years
until his death at the age of 80" (Hinojosa, 2007). He was also the man who apparently engineered, as well as guided, the Mayan tradition of "inscripting stone monuments with
precise astronomical and astrological information during his reign" (Hinojosa, 2007). But, as would be expected, based on his legacy and his continuing intrigue for historians and individuals, there is perhaps
more to the man and his life than this. He was considered to be one of the master magicians of his time, as
well as an incredibly intelligent mathematician (Pacal Votan, 2007). His connection with mathematics involved a sort of language that he believed transcended the verbal experience of humanity (Pacal Votan, 2007).
