Jesse, who was a merchant belonging to the tribe of Juda and living in Bethlehem, the town in which David was born.iii According to biblical chronology, David was born in
1085 and reigned from 1055 to 1015 BCE.iv The point of the biblical account of David to demonstrate that God saved the Israelites through the medium of a hero who
