Othello is its dramatic representation of the human traits of bitter personal retribution, blind jealousy in love, and failure to "get all the facts" before making a decision. Othello is
referred to in derogatory racial slurs repeatedly by his enemy, whom he has bypassed in the promotion process in favor of Cassio. He should have perceived the hatred Iago felt
for him, and thus been more cautious in allowing his jealousy to lead to rash and devastating consequences. This foolish mans suicide is reminiscent of some of the Greek suicides
of honor. Macbeth is one of Shakespeares darkest and most intriguing plays- a tragedy of ego, obsession, guilt and ambition. Macbeth and his lady, succumbing to the desire
for power are driven to perform a terrible deed. The consequences of this act, and further sins, propel each of them into a personal and solitary darkness. Their journey is
filled with the dangers that lurk along the path to the seat of power. Through their eyes, we experience horrors that are chilling reminders of the cost of the
