boring titles or drawn-out introductions, the writer has to struggle to bring the reader back into what they are reading. The use of attention-grabbing essay titles and rich introductions,
then, helps the writer get across their point and maintain the attention of the reader. Writing attention-grabbing essay titles and distinct introductions is not as easy as
it may sound. The greatest shortcoming that people demonstrate when attempting to write these is an inability to be creative. It is common to simply reiterate the question
of an essay topic in the title. For example, if an essay is about the pros and cons of the death penalty, it is not uncommon for someone to
entitle their paper: The Pros and Cons of the Death Penalty. Though this title adequately outlines what the paper is about, it does not give the reader any
insight into the different aspects that might be included, why this paper might be different from others on the subject, or if the writer takes a specific "side" on the
subject. A more creative option might be: Eye for an Eye: The Death Penalty Debate. In this same example, the introduction might simply state the
two distinct arguments of the death penalty issue and this would be an adequate introduction. But the development of a more varied introduction, one in which the writer notes
the challenges of this issue, would provide greater insight into the topic as a whole. Both the introduction and the title in this case provide tools for bringing the
