life. Marx never clearly defines the forces of production which are supposed to be the basis of the change in history and of the whole superstructure of society. However, he lists as ingredients: labor, the changing productiveness of workers, new material and instruments, and, therefore, techniques, means of transportation, methods of exchange and land. All these factors react upon each other and are basic agents for production. With reference to the productive worker, change can be an excellent motivator. Today, technology, new material & instruments etc; make most work tasks significantly easier, and more convenient to the worker. A cursory analysis of the aforementioned reveals that task facilitation through technological change can also lead to inherent laziness. Television certainly has not broadened our minds and automobiles have not contributed to our desire to walk, to run, or to stay in shape. So why should new, easier materials invite us to work harder and be more self-motivated ? This is where Marxs theories about capitalism come strongly into play; Marx saw workers as pawns; as the products of capitalism, exploited by companies to produce the greatest output possible for the lowest wages possible. Capitalism, according to Marx, urges companies to maximize profits by getting more from workers than they are being paid. Certainly, technology facilitates such an endeavor. It requires less effort, yields more productivity, and can either shorten payroll hours or even enable large-scale human resource layoffs. Seeing this (to some extent), Marx called for workers all over the world to unite. The very idea of exploitation and the realization of workers role in a capatilistic society should motivate them to strive for greater achievement, to become more self-motivated since the reality of their external motivation is counterproductive ...
