which shows how depression negatively impacts an entire family. The first point that this format makes clear is that the risk for developing clinical depression is universal. It is
not something to which celebrity, fame or fortune offers any immunity. A dark bout of clinical depression is just as likely to hit someone who is rich and famous as
someone who lives on the lower rungs of the socioeconomic ladder. Secondly, a point that Cronkite (1994) makes is that clinical depression is categorically different from being feeling down,
or sad, or a little depressed. While it is perfectly normal for everyone to have a "bad" day occasionally and it is a normal reaction to reaction with sadness
and grief to traumatic life events, such as the death of a loved one, the narratives conveyed by Cronkite demonstrate conclusive that it experiencing a series of recurring bouts
of clinical depression is outside the norm, and can be fatal, i.e., causing the individual to resort to suicide to end the pain, if medical and/or psychiatric intervention is not
sought. A third point that Cronkite makes is that human behavior is complex. There is a tendency in American society to want to reduce all situation to a simple
