or entertaining others, in order to afford college tuition or to raise a son or daughter. Some justify their profession by contending that they are actually feminists and they should
be able to do what they like with their bodies. Many prostitutes take that stance and prostitution is in fact legal in many nations around the world. That said, many
people frown on this type of behavior. A good portion of the public believes that it is wrong for an individual to sell his or her body for money,
even if there is no touching involved. A student writing on this subject may in fact derive a general statement or moral thesis from that premise, which is: it is
immoral to sell ones body under any circumstances. Obviously, this statement does not necessarily translate to the selling of a total human being such as in the course of slavery,
but also includes things like prostitution and other forms of entertainment that demean the participant. Morality is important and to allow the physical body to be sold, for the enjoyment
of others, is tantamount to transforming the human body into a physical object. Kant gives an example in an essay suggesting that if one allows themselves to be knocked
out for a few beers, for the "sport of others," then he is throwing himself away (Kant Character 395). He goes on to further note that if an individual allows
himself to be bought, then he is just a thing (395). This idea is applicable to a variety of things people construe as entertainment from midget bowling to prostitution. By
