to become a professor; Kant continued to write and teach until 1797iii . There was little in the way of a major alliance between Kant and other philosophers and Kant
seemed to have a unique take on life. Further, Immanuel Kant never married and Kuehn hints that not only might he have died a virgin, but he might have been
homosexual iv . Of course, that is just speculation by the author. Still, it provides insights into Kants persona and why he might have written what he had.
He died in 1804v . Immanuel Kant is well known for his ideas and has published a great many works. He has further contributed a great deal to Western
thought. Kantian ethics is well known as a body of literature. In the Metaphysics of Morals for example Kant applies his moral philosophy, seeking practical solutions to problems of daily
living. The book is comprised of parts. The first part addresses metaphysical first principles of the doctrine of right, which is further divided into public and private rights. Then the
work goes on to Part II and is headed Metaphysical first principles of the doctrine of virtue. This is also further subdivided into elements of ethics and methods of ethics.
Kant was obviously very meticulous in organizing his thoughts and putting them down for the public. Kant contends that individuals should cultivate compassionate feelings within themselves. This is key to
his philosophy. There are many examples of this in society and examples of other religions and philosophies that say exactly what Kant had written about in his Metaphysics of Morals.
