and personal morality enters the picture. However, it is prudent to examine a number of theories to derive a personal ethical model. After doing so, and choosing Kantian deontology, it
would seem that first trimester abortion is wrong. In exploring this topic, it is important to define Kantian deontology and what is meant by that. First, deontology is a theory
that is aligned with doing ones duty as opposed to considering the consequences of ones actions (Shafer-Landau & Feinberg, 2004). Kantian ethics is one type of deontological theory (Shafer-Landau &
Feinberg, 2004). This paradigm is a good one to choose. Kants moral theory appears to be well presented and is applicable in a number of circumstances. It appears to be
a superior moral theory because it draws on principles that are generally inflexible, but it also relies on intuition and common sense. An example of this is that Kant is
concerned with the lying promise and believes that all lies are wrong, regardless of circumstance. That is, it is always wrong to lie and with a no exceptions rule, one
can see that situational ethics does not apply. There is a firmness to this rule and while some people believe that there are situations where lying is attached to a
greater good, no one can predict the future. The premise is therefore sound as a maxim. In delving deeper into this philosophy, it pays to examine Kantian ethics. What is
it exactly? Kantian ethics is a paradigm that sees things as black and white. Something is good or bad dependent upon the deed and whether it can be willed a
