for , , September 2010 properly! Franz Kafka lived from 1883 until 1924
when he died from a variety of illnesses, most particularly, tuberculosis. He was born in Prague, Czechia. He was fortunate in that he did not live to see his mother
and sisters die in concentration camps. Of course, had he been alive, he would have died there, too. He was an unhappy child and a morose adult. His family
was part of the middle class. His father was a stern self-made man who lifted himself out of poverty to become a shop owner. His mother was from a well-to-do
family. While his father was volatile, his mother was calm but distant (Pawel 15). He had a very low self-esteem. He was just four years old and five years old
when his two younger brothers died (Pawel 16). He and his younger sisters were raised mostly by nannies and other servants in the house. Kafka was well-educated and became a
legal clerk in insurance, a job he never liked. He wrote at night. He never felt like he fit in anywhere, not at home, not at work and not in
the world. Although he was engaged a few times, he never married. His letter to his father, written in 1919 and which was 100 pages long, describes how he feels
about himself. He makes it very clear that he fears his father more than he fears anyone else in the world. His father was a tyrant and so Franz had
