of Borneo by the Indonesian part known as Kalimantan" (Adventure Tours, 2006). They are a people who have been divided into around 450 ethno-linguistic groupings (Adventure Tours, 2006). While these
people are spread out over several provinces in Indonesia, in "In Sabah, the Dayak are known as Kadazandusun" (Adventure Tours, 2006). In
Sabah the Kadazandusun are the largest population of people and they are generally people who are rice cultivators (Ethnics Profile: The Kadazandusun, 2006). They are, for the most part, a
people of Malaysia who have been caught up in the international developments in a very negative way due primarily to their indigenous position. They are a tribe that suffers greatly
from poverty while much of the rest of Malaysia seems to thrive and grow in a very powerful way, especially from a global perspective. Malaysia has become one of the
most powerful economic entities in the world, and yet the indigenous people, a very large population of the region, appear lost without true leadership and thus they find themselves in
a very strong impoverished stated. The following paper examines their position in society, focusing on their problems with poverty and the possible solutions to their problem. Kadazandusuns
