Cleveland-based KeyCorp, one of the largest bank financial services companies in the United States, needed a streamlined and coordinated planning and forecasting process (BusinessObjects.com, 2008). In
turning to BusinessObjects Planning, the upgrade ended up providing the company with more data and information to help boost accountability company-wide (BusinessObjects.com, 2008).
In downloading the Xcelsius tutorial, we can see what KeyCorp went through, and how it was able to upgrade its systems to make sure all divisions/departments were on
the same page in terms of planning and data interchange. In this assignment we were asked to create a visual model that will help create an interactive financial dashboard. The
purpose of this assignment was to try to simplify complex data into a single, concise Web page. In terms of what was
actually able to be accomplished, the "five steps" touted by the Xcelsius program were a little more challenging that the "easy" by which it promotes itself. Much of the set-up
involves more than simply setting up - in one case, it involves importing a model of another spreadsheet (Excel) (Crystal Xcelcius, 2008).
