2003). Its been determined that when the populace cant receive even the most basic health services, they turn to home treatment, traditional healers, private clinics or non-government facilities (Mhatia, 2003).
Kenya, in particular, is in need of help in the health-care arena. According to an article written a few years ago, people
in Kenya, on average, survive ten years less than they did 20 years ago (Ambrose, 2006). More children die in infancy, while a great number of those who survive face
stunting (Ambrose, 2006). Ambrose puts part of the blame on the International Monetary Funds foundations of trade liberalization and low ceilings on wages
is preventing the hire of needed health professionals throughout Kenya (Ambrose, 2006). Structural adjustment policies imposed by the IMF and World Bank as conditions for loans have created huge problems
(Ambrose, 2006). Ambrose points out that Kenyas health care crisis is found in the 2004 Poverty Reduction Strategy, which shows an increase in
under-five mortality and a decrease in the number of children who are fully vaccinated (Ambrose, 2006). Furthermore, the problem isnt enough skilled medical professionals - the problem is that there
hasnt been enough money to hire them (Ambrose, 2006). Though Ambroses treatise is certainly anti-IMF, the statistics support him. Allianz (which is a
