most notable is that the poet, through most of his work, seems to struggle between the myth of Christianity and the ever present influence of Paganism. That he manages to
marry the two in many of his poems seems to indicate his strong spiritual theme throughout his works. In fact, it is from this struggle between the two dichotomies which
may have given rise to the experimental nature of his poems. There is that essence of the human psyche where many fear to tread. In fact, only those who have
glimpsed it, or perhaps have had a sense of their own mortality, seem able to capture and describe the symbiotic relationship, the Yin and Yang, if you will, of the
human soul. Keats utilized elements of the Romantic era, but as such did not succumb to the grand generalizations or abstractions as many of the time did. Keats believed that
Wordsworth was describing many processes by which a soul matured and came into its own understanding. Firstly, he mentions that the soul is in a state of infancy, where everything
is love and light and there is no thought whatsoever involved. The first we step into we call the infant or thoughtless Chamber, in which we remain as long
as we do not think--We remain there a long while, and notwithstanding the doors of the second Chamber remain wide open, showing a bright appearance, we care not to hasten
to it; but are at length imperceptibly impelled by the awakening of the thinking principle (Keats,1008-1022). Secondly, he believed that one was
propelled into the next chamber simply by the advent of cogent thought. When this occurs all thoughts are of love and delight and innocence, which declares that all is good
