with enforcing the laws of the world are subjected to a variety of stresses. This is true regardless of whether one is assigned to meter patrol or working organized
crime. Police officers who serve in K-9 units are no exception to this rule. Not only do K-9 officers encounter all the stresses which are common to other
law enforcement personnel, they often encounter stresses which are unique to their position. The K-9 officer encounters numerous problems not only on the street in the direct performance
of their duties but also back at the office. Their job sometimes involves pleasurable and high profile activities such as conducting school interpretation programs but more often it involves
grueling and sometimes low-profile work that requires not only physical but mental aptitude and endurance. Law enforcement personnel in K-9 units find themselves
in positions on a everyday basis which most people might be exposed to only occasionally. They are confronted not only with imminent threats to their own physical safety but
also the physical safety of their dogs. To further complicate the issues, these officers are often challenged tremendously from an ethical standpoint. They must daily confront ethical questions
such as: Is it accepting a cash bribe? How about an offer of reduced cost goods or services? Is that a bribe? How about the police
officer who is made an offer he cant refuse by a businessman who is stopped for a traffic violation? If the businessman tells the police officer he is willing
to give him a really good deal on a suit as part of the conversation regarding whether or not the officer is going to issue a citation, is that a
