an anthropological find in addition to a sociological observation. There is more evidence than just a scant linkage between the rise of juvenile delinquency and the rise of single parenthood.
Today, there are certainly more single mothers in the world, and it is now acceptable. However, the fact that juvenile delinquency has risen does not necessarily mean it is related
to single parenthood just by mere observation. Yet, there is more than just anecdotal evidence to come from research from the U.S. and other nations. There is a definite
correlation between juvenile delinquency and single parenting that has been seen over time. Brannigan, Gemmell, Pevalin & Wade (2002) point out that certain factors which are usually
relevant to strain models sometimes lose impact when discussed in respect to "family process factors" (2002, p.119). In other words, family plays in important role in studying things such as
juvenile delinquency. Control theory does have a tendency to be individualistic but exists in a larger macrosociological state that emphasizes mechanisms of attachment and supervision (2002). These things
demonstrate a relationship between elements such as parental unemployment or single parenting, or both, to undesirable behavior in offspring (2002). Instability factors seem to play a role and
so single parenthood might create undesirable behavior in children. Pickard (1998) explains that historical evidence as well as from the behavioral and social sciences suggests that there is a
