white man, and a host of black men siting on death row. This has always been the case. Even though the armed forces are now integrated, minorities continue to be
treated unfairly in military courts and tribunals. They are charged and sentenced to harsher punishments than are their white majority counterparts. This is evident in civilian life and few
dispute the claim so it is not a surprise that they would be subject to similar treatment in military courts. While there have been fewer publicized incidents in the military,
in the civilian court system, there is a great deal of evidence that this is the case. Morris (1992) claims that the system is replete with racism, something that
the crime statistics help to prove. For example, there have been a slew of statistics to show that more black men are on death row than white men. There is
the belief that black men do get harsher penalties, are more likely to be found guilty and more likely to be on trial in the first place. Morris is notorious
for blaming the police for targeting blacks due to the misconception that black people commit more crime. Morriss point is that black people do not commit more crime but rather
they are perhaps caught more often when they do. In other words, a white man is less likely to be stopped, frisked or treated poorly by police. Many black people
report being stopped frequently by police for no reason. Obviously, if police stop more black than white people in general, more guilty people from the African American community will be
