a world that has changed a great deal, although there are still many traditional families still in existence. The following paper examines the social conditions of marriage and family duties
as it involves Judy Bradys essay "I Want a Wife" and other articles that illustrate different lifestyles today. I Want a Wife In this essay the writer thinks
about a man she knows who is looking for a new wife. As she was ironing she thought, "it suddenly occurred to me that 1, too, would like to have
a wife" (Brady, 2006). From that point on she illustrates how a wife would be nice because then she could "go back to school" and essentially go about her life
knowing the house and cooking and children and all the little things that need to be done would be taken care of. So often in history it has been the
womans job to take care of everything but making the money and perhaps dealing with the bills. The man has had the option to go out with friends, work and
essentially never do much of anything around the house except for perhaps yard work and household repairs. This situation has clearly changed in the past few decades, although Bradys
words and images are likely very relevant to many women still today. While the media presents images of women who are empowered and possessing jobs, many women are still in
