States hold a great deal of negative feelings towards homosexuals. Other Western cultures are not nearly so vehement in their attacks on homosexuals and the United States stands as one
of the most negative cultures in terms of their opinions concerning homosexuals. There are, however, many different opinions in the United States, and the Western cultures, concerning homosexuality. As
such there is no single Western perspective on the issue of homosexuality. But, the student requesting this paper asks what the viewpoint of a westerner would be towards a homosexual
from a non-western culture. With this in mind the following paper first presents a broad view of what such an opinion may be, with the westerner being negative towards western
homosexuals, but perhaps more understanding of a non-western homosexual. The paper then examines homosexuality in other cultures, and in the history of the western world. Judging a Non-Western
Homosexual In this particular section, as mentioned in the introduction, approach the situation from the position wherein the westerner is one who is against homosexuality but is perhaps more lenient
with the judgment of a homosexual from another culture. This sort of attitude may well be based on the fact that, generally speaking, westerners at least attempt to understand that
other cultures are quite different and thus cannot be expected to be like western cultures. The judgments that would initially come to the westerner would be negative. This is
because of upbringing and the western culture of the United States itself. The United States is generally very opposed to any form of homosexuality. This stems from a Puritan foundation
that still exists in the culture of the United States. No other region in the western world was quite so influenced by Puritan beliefs as the United States and these
