A history of the beginning of Christianity is discussed as well as the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem which was the beginning of the end of the Jewish rule in the then civilized world. The works of Flavius Josephus and Pope Clement I are included. Similarities and differences are discussed with a focus on the differences between the two. birth, or perhaps more importantly the death, of Christ came a whole new religion called Christianity. With this new religion came the destruction of much that the Judaic believers held
dear. Perhaps the first truly devastating event that took place in relationship to these two religions, an event which allowed Christianity to begin to flourish, was the destruction of the
Temple in Jerusalem in the year 70 AD. This event was also the beginning of some of the worst times experienced by the Judaic people for this was the beginning
of the end of the Jewish state. An end that wouldnt be remedied until the modern revival of Israel arose. I. The Birth of Christianity The true beginnings
of church were believed to have begun, or have been dated, from Pentecost, which is the fiftieth day after Passover, following the death of Christ. It was on this
occasion that the disciples were gathered in a room , after the death of Christ, and they were visited by the holy spirit in the form of fire which descended
upon their heads. "To date the rise of the church from this experience is somewhat arbitrary , for on this subject there can be no precision" (Bainton 57). It was
obvious from that point that the church began to win converts. It was that day that Peter preached his first sermon. The message he sent forth was that the
