biological, and spiritual journeys. In both novels we have individuals who are taking physical journeys for one reason or another, and they are also novels wherein the individuals are on
an internal journey of one kind or another. The following paper examines the theme of journeys in Faulkners and Roths novel. Journeys: Faulkner and Roth Both of these
stories are narrated and structured in a manner that really brings the journeys into a certain light. In Faulkners story we have each chapter essentially narrated by a different member
of the family. In this manner we are seeing each individuals perspective about the journey and the death of the woman that was their mother or wife. In Roths book
the narrator, or the manner in which the story is told, offers a more objective perspective, but also delves deep into the workings of the two main characters, Henry and
Nathan. In Faulkners tale we are presented with a journey that involves the death of the matriarch of the family, Addie, and even one of the chapters is narrated
by her, whether in death or life the reader does not really know. With Roths story the novel is divided into four different sections, four different parts of the journey
that Nathan takes towards his death, traveling to various parts of the world in this journey. But, the opening chapter takes place when he lies dead in the coffin. Faulkners
physical journey involves the journey the family will take as they are on their way to bury their mother. From the information thus far we see powerful elements of
