There was a sense of a golden age, an age of possibilities, and likely a bit more freedom than in the past. England was a place coming into its own,
gaining in power and wealth and opportunities seemed to abound. The world had recovered from the time of the plague, which had occurred two hundred years before her reign but
had devastated over half the English population. The nation, under Elizabeth, also became more unified religiously as Catholicism was not longer the ruling power in the land. In essence, it
was a great time of rebirth and growth and perhaps a very grand time to have lived in for many reasons, although life was still difficult for many. With that
in mind the following paper presents hypothetical journal entries of a 15 year old boy during Elizabethan times in England. Day 1
I woke up today, gave my parents their traditional greeting and after a breakfast of bread headed out to tend to the duties of the farm. It was a
very foggy day, heavy with mist and my friends came and went in the fog dealing with their own tasks that morning. I was content today, in this morning, but
that is not unlike any other morning. It just seemed, however, that something was going to happen soon. I could not see why I should feel that something would happen
for my life is simple and nothing incredibly exciting ever happens. I enjoyed my work, as I do, and headed back to the house to see what else needed being
