from theological messages and directing human behavior to reflect scriptural focus. Wesley does this with such great force and urgency that his Sermon has become a message for
the modern church. Wesley begins by citing Ephesians 2:8: "Ye are saved through faith." The concept of salvation through the application of faith is clearly an message
presented as a component Christian education. Though religious theology and the understanding of religion may reflect a variety of messages, the true believers in Christianity have long been called
to apply faith to their lives in hopes of the end result of salvation. At the same time, Wesley reflects upon the fact that the basic codicils of
religion are difficult to understand and that even the conceptual view of faith and the nature of salvation itself can fall under doctrinal scrutiny. It is not surprising, then,
that Wesley argues that meaning of faith and salvation "include the substance of all the Bible, the marrow, as it were, of the whole Scripture" (Wesley, 1872, Chapter 1, Sec.
2). Wesley calls to all Christians to gain an accurate understanding of the Scriptures and of the concepts of faith and salvation because of their importance. Wesley then
poses some significant questions, including the question of what is salvation, the role that faith plays in salvation and how faith defines how man is saved. While some
Christian theologians argue that salvation is what occurs on the last day, when each man faces judgment, Wesley argues that salvation is in the present, that it current occurs, every
