than simply compassionate or romantic love. Lees approach to love, as demonstrated in his text The Colors of Love, indicates that the complicated nature of love, which is deeply affected
by the social context of the individuals involved in a relationship. Garnering statements concerning love from a broad variety of both fictional and non-fictional works that include works that are
both ancient and modern in origin, Lee categorized these statements, identifying six primary forms of love, which he refers to, using Greek and Latin names, as the "colors"
of love (Carroll, 2007). Lees work has prompted scholars to investigate his categories, which has generated a sizeable body of research. This
research confirms that Lees love styles are distinct and independent from each other and can, therefore, be measured with a degree of accuracy (Carroll, 2007). Lee argues that lovers with
compatible love styles have a greater chance at happiness and contentment within their relationship than lovers whose styles are incompatible. This is a rational argument that is born out
by examining each of his love styles described by Lee and what these styles entail. Eros Lees first category is titled "Eros:
The Romantic Lover" and this category describes the traditional conceptualization of romantic love (Carroll, 2007, p. 171). This category entails the ideal picture that individuals envision as the perfect partner,
which is frequently so unrealistic that it can never be fulfilled in reality, which is why "purely erotic love does not last" (Carroll, 2007, p. 171). Nevertheless, the main characteristics
