indicates, there is a growing demand for professionally trained teachers in regards to early childhood educational needs. In almost every article, study or report, somewhere in the text will be
the observation that children who attend a high-quality preschool are likely to more successful in kindergarten and beyond--both "academically and socially" (Gibbs, 2004, p. 26). In response to this realization,
early childhood educational facilities have "popped up" all over the country to meet the needs of this growing industry (Gibbs, 2004, p. 26). According to the US governments Occupational Outlook
Handbook, employment for preschool teachers and childcare workers is projected to increase faster than the average for all other occupations through 2006 (Gibbs, 2004). One company where a student
earning a degree in early childhood education could undoubtedly find employment is at the Early Childhood Development Center (ECD), which is run by the University of Minnesota in Crookston. This
early childhood educational facility offers a dedicated staff and an environment that is designed specifically to meet the educational needs of young children (ECD, 2001). The goal of the center
is to provide children with a "rich and varied learning experience" and to also instill in the children who attend the center a love of learning that will last a
lifetime (ECD, 2001). While part of the mission of the center is to provide the students attending the University of Minnesota with a opportunity to observe and participate in
