and motivations. The goals will often be related to the way in which the job is designed. In a distribution company there will be a broad range of positions, all
of which will have to be performed in order for the company to operate1. There are a number of goals that are in place which link in to the
way that the job is performed, both individually as well as part of a team, some of these are formal and some are informal. Using the position of a logistics
manager/supervisor as an example the tasks involved can be identified along with the way that the individual is able to perform these tasks. A logistics manager has set hours,
they cover the time that the drivers are on the roads, so this involves rotating shifts, one shift starts at 6 am and ends at 2 pm, the alternate shift
is 2 pm - 10 pm, there is a purposeful cross over which covers one of the busiest times of day for the use of the logistics team. The main
purpose of the logistics manager is to organize the transportation schedules so that the goods are deliver to the right places at the right times and communicating these to the
transport manager and the drivers. This involves taking input data from the order system and co-ordaining with the warehouse who will need to make sure that the requires goods being
carried are ready for loading at the right time. The task involves determining the routes and planning the routes, liaising with the transport managers to ensure that there are
