Moreover, job satisfaction is considered a strong predictor of overall individual well-being...as well as a good predictor of intentions or decisions of employees to leave a job" (European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, 2006). Stress is one aspect of work that virtually everyone experiences at one time or another; that such pressure can elevate to harmful levels has become quite a focal point of understanding organizational culture. There are myriad possibilities when it comes to the various stress factors at work, including - but not limited to - a hostile environment; work overload; boredom; lack of communication; unclear job definition; no room for advancement; little or no input; schedule inflexibility; and personal problems. A 1998/1999 study found the majority of German respondents more or less satisfied with the pressure they experienced on the job (70.4% female; 68.7% male), while 10.4 percent of women and 7.9 percent of men said they were very satisfied. Rounding out the last two categories, 17 percent of women were rather unsatisfied and 2.3 percent were very unsatisfied, while mens somewhat and significant dissatisfaction were 20.8 percent and 2.6 percent, respectively (European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, 2006).
