with their jobs, including compensation, security, and even communication with superiors (Miller, 2007). Effective internal communication processes are more important than many managers may think. Researchers have found, for instance,
that companies with effective internal communication outperform companies with ineffective communication processes (Krell, 2006). This author stated: "communications in general are correlated with financial performance" (Krell, 2007, p. 50). Managers
often send messages they dont intend to send through nonverbal cues and through phrasing (Krell, 2006). Definitions: Communication. An effective communication interaction has occurred when both the sender and
receiver of a message perceive it and understand it in the same way. There are numerous forms and modes of communication in the workplace. This paper will address the issue
of communication as it occurs between manager and employee. The primary question is whether or not employees are satisfied with the communication process with their managers. Too often, communication
can backfire, whether the message is delivering good or bad news. For instance, companies who explain their reasons for outsourcing seldom consider the emotions of the people involved (Krell, 2006).
On the other hand, an employee was given a promotion that included a salary increase but did not include a different desk; hers was brown but black desks were associated
with higher status (Krell, 2006). The value of effective internal communication cannot be overstated. One study found that companies with effective communication processes posted 57 percent higher shareholder earnings over
