most noteworthy figures of world history. Born on the Feast of the Epiphany in 1412, Joan of Arc would ultimately be dubbed a saint. Initially, however, Joan
was hailed by France a national hero for her role in achieving freedom from British rule and then put to death at the stake. She arrived on the scene
at a time when France was being held subservient to England and at a time when even the Church itself had no power. Many believe that God sent Joan
of Arc to intercede in these dire affairs and that in reality she was a saint rather than the common girl as which she may have manifested. Interestingly, all
that we know of her is testimony which was presented under oath in a court of law. Although many have written about this miraculous historical figure, this is just
one of the many facts which make the life of Joan of Arc so captivating. Pernoud (1994), of course, is the definitive historical source on Joan of Arc but
there are many more complimentary studies out there. From each we learn that Joan of Arc was indeed a miraculous individual. Joan
was distinctive at even a very early age in that she was purported to hear the voices of St. Michael, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret at the young age of
fourteen (Gordon, 2000). At the age of seventeen she found that she could no longer resist the urgings of these voices when the told her to become involved in the
