Jimmy Hoffa is one of the most intriguing characters of American history. His leadership of
the powerful Teamsters Labor Union won him many friends. That same leadership also won him many enemies. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy was one of the most influential
of those leaders. Interestingly, there are many contentions that both Hoffa and the Kennedys had ties to organized crime. Allen Dorfman, Hoffmans
recruit for the management of the Teamsters Central States Pension, Health and Welfare Plans, for example, was a known Mafia figure (La Botz, 2006). So too were Roy Williams
(Hoffas lieutenant in Kansas City) and William Presser (Hoffas lieutenant in Cleveland) (La Botz, 2006). Hoffa used his power, and the resources of the Teamsters Union, to dominate American
labor. Unfortunately, the Teamsters became known for the illicit and unethical measures that they often employed to domineer industry. Their name became associated with bribery, heavy muscle tactics,
and even jury tampering. Hoffa, in particular, quickly stirred the wrath of Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and his brother President John F. Kennedy. The Kennedys too, however,
had connections it seems on both sides of the fence. Just as Hoffa has some unsettling associations, the Kennedys are known for their
involvement in philandering, risk taking, and even organized crime. n fact, organized crime is believed to have played a definitive role in shaping the 1960 presidential campaign and the
