United States. It may well have been the time in which he was President, or it may well have been his ability to perform the job effectively. The following paper
examines the life of Jimmy Carter prior to his presidency and then examines whether this man would have made a good president. Obviously the paper examines the subject as though
he was never President of the United States and looks at him from the perspective of perhaps an upcoming election and whether he would make a good choice for leader
of the nation. Jimmy Carter: His Life James Earl Carter Jr. (Jimmy Carter) was born in October of 1924 in a very small town, a farming town, in Plains,
Georgia (Hochman). His father, along with being a farmer, was a businessman and his mother was a nurse (Hochman). Jimmy went to the Plains public school and received the honor
of class valedictorian in his high school (American President). He then went on to attend Georgia Southwestern College as well as the Georgia Institute of Technology (Hochman). He then went
on and "received a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy in 1946" and then "later did graduate work in nuclear physics at Union College" (Hochman). He
had a naval career where he lived in many places around the nation as well as many places around the world. While in the Navy he rose in rank to
lieutenant and worked with the development of the Navys nuclear submarine program (Hochman). Then his father died in 1953 and Jimmy left the Navy returning to his home town so
that he could work his own farm. In addition to working on the farm he took up his fathers business of selling farm supplies such as fertilizer and other
