This was the first time we know of Jesus telling His earthly parents that He was about His "Fathers business" (Maas, 1910). Nazareth was a small farming village populated
mostly by Jews (Jesus Institute, 2005). The marketplace was the economic and social hub and the synagogue was not only a place of worship but the central location for meetings
(Jesus Institute, 2005). It was also the "seat of the local Jewish government" (Jesus Institute, 2005). Josephs occupation as a carpenter would probably suggest that Jesus family would belong to
the middle class (Jesus Institute, 2005). Mohamed was born in 572 A.D. in Mecca, Saudi Arabia (Bethany World Prayer Center, 1997). His family has been described as "a relatively poor
clan, the Hashim" (Hooker, 1996) although his father "belonged to the Koreish, one of the distinguished Arabian tribes" (Bethany World Prayer Center, 1997). Mohammeds father died two months before Mohammed
was born (Bethany World Prayer Center, 1997). Mohammed changed his financial status when he married a rich widow when he was quite young (Bethany World Prayer Center, 1997). This
move allowed him to lead a life of leisure rather than one of hard work and he spent a great deal of time "in religious contemplation" (Bethany World Prayer Center,
1997), in fact, Mohammed made annual trips to Mt. Hira (Bethany World Prayer Center, 1997). At the time, different tribes had adopted either Judaism or Christianity (Bethany World Prayer Center,
