faith, Moses is the great prophet and a man who is revered even more than Abraham (Jeffrey, 1990). Israel views Moses as a "unique leader with outstanding qualities as a
prophet, priest, teacher, savior, and lawgiver" (Jeffrey, 1990). Yet, even Moses prophesized there the Messiah would come: "The Lord your God will raise up a prophet like me from
your own brothers . . . . I will raise up for t hem a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth,
and he will tell them everything I command him" (Deuteronomy 18:15,18-19). The people knew that Jesus had fulfilled this prophecy from Moses: "After the people saw the miraculous sign that
Jesus did, they began to say, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world" (John 6:14). We find these types of references to Moses prophecy and
Jesus fulfillment of it throughout the New Testament. The lives of Moses and Jesus were more similar or parallel than any other two people in Scripture. Jeffrey (1990) said there
are "at least fifty elements and events are parallel in both lives." They each played a number of roles in their lifetimes, including that of "priest, lawgiver, teacher, leader of
men" (Jeffrey, 1990). Each taught a new truth as commanded by God, each performed miracles, both spent their childhoods in Egypt, and they were both protected by God from the
hostilities towards them (Jeffrey, 1990). The world saw each Jesus and Moses as the greatest prophet, the greatest teacher and the wisest man alive at the time (Jeffrey, 1990).
