Jeff Zucker came from a family that performed or was left behind. His father, Matthew, was a cardiologist, his mother, Arline, an outspoken school teacher. "Home became an ever-present opportunity
for the children to understand and experience, first hand, the importance of education, and Arlene made sure the children came out at the top of their class" (Morgan). Born in
Hempstead, Florida, Jeff moved with his parents and sister, Pam, to Miami in 1965. There, Jeff shined by being the captain of the tennis team, the editor of the school
newspaper, and president of all the classes at North Miami Senior High School (Morgan). At the same time, he worked as editor at The Miami Herald. Therefore, it is no
surprise he attended Harvard as an American History major, serving as class president in his senior year, and upon graduation in 1986, he started at NBC sports as a researcher.
At NBC, Zucker and traveled the world to track down the information the NBC Sports commentators used on air as background to
their coverage of major sporting events. He then accepted a position "as executive producer of the NBC newsmagazine, Now with Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric, and the NBC News with
Tom Brokaw" at the age of 26 (Morgan). If this werent enough, Zucker made his mark as the youngest executive producer in the history of the Today show with Katie
