as Creole, the same ingredients were not found in other cities, not only make New Orleans the cradle of Jazz, but also making it unique. The variety of Jazz was
rich, which is demonstrated with musicians such as Jelly Roll Morton, Jack Laine, and Buddy Bolden who display the diversity that was inherent in the beginnings of New Orleans Jazz
culture, all of which may be seen as an major influence on Jazz, Jack Laine with his brass bands and Charles Buddy Bolden, a solo trumpet player, who was perhaps
the single most important individual musician (Carney, 2006). However, Jazz was not the development of a single musician, no single person created it; it was an evaluation that was as
much social and cultural as it was musical. The city is intertwined with its musical history, which in turn has become part of a larger culture, so, when the
iconic city was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina much of the history associated with the culture has been destroyed. Culture may be ongoing, carried in the people, but the symbols
and landmarks, of the music and the culture it has influenced. The loss of the buildings and the landmarks may not mean the music is lost, but a part of
the history has been lost. With this loss the questions remains; should New Orleans be rebuilt. There are many practical issues involved in the rebuilding, its position as a
port city on the mouth of the Mississippi means that the city is below the water line, pumps kept the city dry; it was the breaching of the levys that
