The following paper examines how and why this painting should be considered fine art. Jackson Pollocks Convergence It has long been the belief that art, like beauty, well
lies in the eyes of the beholder. When speaking of fine art people naturally look to the past and the masters such as Da Vinci and Rembrandt. But, fine art
can, in many respects, be considered fine art based on the opinion of anyone who chooses to give it that label. Some people may consider Picassos art as fine art
and others may consider it to be trash in the larger world of art. In all honesty, when defining fine art, it seems that one of the major factors
to consider is the statement it is making and whether or not that statement is relevant and worth noting. Art is a reflection, more often than not, of society and
what is happening in society. In some ways it is a reaction to the realities in society or the world and in other ways one could say it is almost
a harbinger of change in the society. Fine art makes an impact on society in a powerful way and also reflect society. Pollocks Convergence is very much such a piece.
Pollock painted this work in the early 1950s when the world was still struggling to recover, at least socially and psychologically, from WWII. The world was a different place
