it could be done by a child, in relationship to his later works. But, there are those who, more often than not, argue that his artistic nature and style and
vision were nothing short of pure genius. The following paper examines what Pollocks aims and goals seemed to have been, through an examination of his life and his art. The
paper then discusses the influence and impact he has had on art. The paper ultimately illustrates how Pollock was likely one of the most powerful influences in the world of
art, setting it free from historical constraints though his unique vision. Jackson Pollock: Aims and Goals Pollock was born in 1912 and in 1929 he began to seriously
study painting in New York, at the Art Students League, New York (Beat Museum). He studied unter Thomas Hart Benton, a Regionalist painter (Beat Museum). As a student of a
Regionalist painter he was essentially taught to paint in this particular style, though he was also apparently influenced by Orozco, Rivera, and Siqueiros, all Mexican muralists (Beat Museum). He was
also drawn to Surrealism as well (Beat Museum). Such information clearly indicates that he saw many different styles as housing some opportunity for his own art, some perspective that could
