Punch Press Operator, along with two intrinsic rewards and extrinsic rewards. According to the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, the main duties of
a punch press operator are to set up and operate power presses to trim, punch, shape or draw on some kind of material (composite, metal or plastic). Furthermore, the operator
is responsible for assembling, installing and aligning dies in the press per specifications (Punch Press Operator, 2003). The person may also be responsible for cleaning and lubricating the machine (Punch
Press Operator, 2003). In other words, this is a job that depends on some skill, but doesnt present a whole lot of challenge, meaning it could become boring and repetitive.
What was conducted above was part and parcel of a job analysis but not the whole thing. A job analysis identifies the
job duties, employee requirements and also the type of training that a person should probably undergo for the job (Job Analysis, 1999). The job analysis also gives us an idea
of compensation and performance appraisal, both of which are important when it comes to the punch operator job. But to ensure that
our worker does his/her job well, we need to ensure he/she is motivated. Psychologists talk a great deal about extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivation is when someone is motivated
