an acronym for Resources, Events, Agents and Locations. For purposes of this paper, our REAL model will examine a case study of Jet Travel Intelligence, its business-process management system and
how it delivers accurate and timely intelligence. Jet Travel Intelligence offers to its clients (individuals and corporations) online, open-source intelligence information and
crisis management services (Meyer, 2003). The company researches public information and other sources and events before they become trends and common knowledge (as issued by the media), to help clients
determine the risk of traveling overseas. Main clients are international companies, agencies such as the World Bank and web-based travel sites, who
use the service to offer travel warnings to online customers (Meyer, 2003). Basically, anyone who needs international intelligence is fair game for this company.
The "action" - or "what happened" in this case was that the company needed to implement a business process management system to help company officials "change business models
and processes in response to new opportunities" (Meyer, 2003). The new opportunity in this case was the challenges that arose from the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World
Trade Center towers and Pentagon. Although Jet Travel Intelligence had changed its business model many times since the company was founded in
1999, the events of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack created an overall change in the business environment - as well as a chance for the company to provide important
