United States. The Italian Americans have essentially lived their own lives in many ways, though also fully integrating themselves into the culture of America. In light of this it seems
that any ideals they possessed could have, and should have, been a very powerful part of the political system of the nation. But, it appears that through their unique sense
of isolation, in combination with their acculturation, we see a culture that remains unto itself and yet disappears into the culture of the nation, never truly taking control of any
political body. With that in mind we present an examination of Richard Gambinos "Blood of My Blood," Daniel Patrick Moynihan and Nathan Glazes "Beyond the Melting Pot," and Jerre Mangione
and Ben Morreales "La Storia." Gambino Gambinos work essentially delves into why the Italian Americans have not fully integrated into the United States, in terms of political and
social activities. He focuses on the Italians and their connection with ancient traditions which have kept Italian Americans from becoming very active parts of the overall culture of American, and
thus created their own culture so to speak. The book illustrates that the Italian Americans have perhaps, more often than not, heralded those Italian individuals who are less than desirable.
For example, they like to focus on characters such as Al Capone instead of individuals who contributed a great deal to America and the world. The Italian Americans possess their
own unique set of ideals that seem to have nothing to do with America and everything to do with Italians as a separate entity from Americans. They almost appear proud
of being misfits it seems, according to Gambinos work. They almost go out of their way to make sure that the society of America sees their bad qualities which are
