will be able to bring the different experts needed for the project together at an early stage and increase the chances of success as well as a range of perspectives.
In this way teamwork may be able to increase the speed of the planning process and also the efficiency. It is well known that the out of ay process
will be dependant on the quality of the input. Just as with a manufacturing process, the planning and decision making process will benefit from quality input. Therefore, it is not
only the aspect of teamwork that needs to be considered, but also the quality and members of the team. Just as good team members will add value, team members not
suited to the task, either due to lack of knowledge, or even due to a negative attitude may detract from the teamwork process (Huczyniski and Buchanan, 1996). The student should
also be aware of the role that is played by group dynamics. Dependant on the scenario and the members this can also detract from e way a group operates. In
any group there will be some more dominant members, whilst others are quieter and more withdrawn. If the decision and planning process is undertaken as the group the danger is
that those who speak the most and the loudest will be those who are most influential. If these that speak the loudest are also the expert on the subject, then
this is not a problem. However, the student may have noticed that on many occasions the most outspoken are not always the experts. This may bias the group and skew
