to look at the operations, influences and way that the firm operates. 2. Nature of Operations The first consideration should be the firm , looking at the nature of
the operation, what is offered and how, and the way that these issues interlink with the objectives of the organization, the support areas, such as management and the supply chain
and can be used to look at the way improvements may take place. 2.1 Product Mix The organization is in the hospitality industry; a hotel with restaurant attached. This means
the organization is offering both accommodation and catering services and products along with the associated services. The services are complimentary, but the accommodation and the restaurant areas are also independent.
The hotel aspect is a full service hotel1, with the provision of daily room service and access to a number of leisure facilities. In the room there are televisions
that allow access to satellite channels as well as pay per view channels. There is also the provision of a data port to allow access to the internet through a
wired connection for a fee for a 24 hour period. This is also complimented by a wireless network which also has a fee. There are also tea and
coffee making facilities in the bedrooms, and the provision of basic toiletry items, such as shower gel and shampoo. The hotel guests also gain complimentary access to a fitness center
