Alternatively, it may be that of the wide macro environment, a reflection of the religious and social values of the country in which the organisation operates. In this case it would be easy to see that in developing countries there may be different working practises and perceptions than those adopted in developed countries. These differences will be manifested in a variety of ways such as power distance, uncertainty avoidance, collectively, and masculinity or femininity of a countries business environment. The concept of the difference in culture may be seen by many in the ways in which entrepreneurs are seen and the way in which they behave in the difference cultures. These cultural differences will impact on every aspect of the business from strategic business planning through to human resources and marketing. Aspects such as power distance and authority, poverty and even masculinity are issues that need understanding. The development of any country appears to go through different stages when becoming industrialised. The issue of industrial relations is one aspect of the culture that changes as a country develops. This is reflected in the power distance relationship between employer and employees. Power distance is a reflection of the authority perceptions in the employee relationship (Wickham 1998).
