Unfortunately, the Israelis and Palestinians are no closer to making this happen than they were when the conflict first began. Historically, tensions
between Arabs and Jews stem from a deep-seated fear and distrust the result of long-standing stereotypes and has existed in one context as a state-to-state issue involving Israel and a
number of neighboring states, as well as a direct conflict between Palestinians and Israelis; such discord has been significantly more emotionally and psychologically detrimental than the former. Opposing views
notwithstanding, attempts to bridge viable peace relations between Arabs and Jews illustrate how it has long been held that there must be a significant re-evaluation in the way the two
have and continue to judge each other with each side legitimizing the others suffering. Attitudes and prejudices have to be abandoned and a renewed respect embraced. Understanding the
enormity of such a concept, however, makes it easy to see just how unfathomable the concept of peace truly is between the two factions.
