who actively endeavor to direct US foreign policy in a direction congruent with Israeli interests, which they refer to in a shorthand manner as "the Lobby." The first half of
the article recounts recent history and the unwavering support for Israel that has occurred over the last sixty years despite numerous ambiguities, such as the fact that Israel has not
always behaved as a loyal ally. Israeli officials have often ignored American requests and reneged on pledges, such as to halt settlement construction in Palestinian territory. Another serious ambiguity in
US policy towards Israel is the fact that Israel receives more foreign aid than any other country despite the fact that it has a prosperous economy and is, by far,
the most advanced and well-defended nation in the Middle East. The authors also address all of the rationalizations for unwavering and uncritical American support for Israel and show how each
of these rationalizations has fallacies that negate them. After providing considerable background information, the authors get into the heart of their argument, which largely deals with the activities of
organizations, such as the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations. The authors also describe how the Lobby includes prominent Christian evangelical leaders,
as well as many politicians, who regard the creation of the Israeli state as the "fulfillment of biblical prophecy" (Mearsheimer and Walt). The authors offer a detailed description of
