A 5 page observation that recent world events have brought the Islamic religion into western awareness perhaps more so than it has been at any point in the past. To understand Islamic civilization we must look to the religion and the areas and cultures which it has influenced. There are a number of examples which illustrate the contention that religion can be definitively impacted by and impact culture. Growing rapidly in popularity, Islam is in fact spreading across the world. Because of this rapid spread it is particularly sensitive to cultural deviations in its practice. At the same time, however, Islam has influenced numerous regions of the war perhaps more than any other religion in history. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

across the world. Because of this rapid spread it is particularly sensitive to cultural deviations in its practice. At the same time, however, Islam has influenced numerous regions
of the war perhaps more than any other religion in history. Islam is an ideology and religion which has taken the world as
if by wild fire. Islams primary impact, however, has been in the Middle East. It made its initial advent at a time when many of the worlds cultures
were ready for a dramatic change in the way they viewed their world and their interaction in that world. The word "Islam" is defined as submission and peace in
Arabic (BIMA ideology.html). It offered the hope of peace to those cultures that adopted it, many of which had been embroiled in war and conflict for generations.
Islam is a unique and comprehensive ideology which serves as a guide for the worldly as well as the spiritual pursuits of its
believers (BIMA ideology.html). It does so through its creed or doctrine, through its system of rules which direct believers actions (BIMA ideology.html). Through Islam individuals sought peace, tranquillity
