Before and after the fall of communism there were Muslims living in Russia. While that is the case, many changes have erupted since the fall of the
Berlin wall throughout the world, and within the Soviet Union, and in particular, there have been changes for Russian Muslims. In order to comprehend the problem, a quick look at
the fall of the famous wall is in order. Because Berlin is in Germany, one might ask what the fall of
the Berlin wall has to do with Russia. The answer is, a great deal. In fact, Koeller (1999) says that in order to discover the cause of the fall of
the Berlin Wall, one should look not to Germany, but to Soviet history. It all began when Mikhail Gorbachev restructured the economys production and distribution system, something called perestroika (1999).
That contributed to the breakup of the centralized structure of the USSR (1999). Politics in Germany, as a result of other changes in the world, which were
hinged on Soviet politics, leaned toward the destruction of the wall (1999). Soon thereafter, the wall did fall, which was an extraordinary event as the once severed Germany was suddenly
