allows travel. However, although there is an impression of increased freedoms there are also increasing levels of regulation that constrains personal behavior. The
idea of state regulation over private behavior is not new. There are some general concepts in laws which have been n place for many years that indicate personal freedom can
only be unregulated until the point at which it may affect another person (McLeod, 2002). In some cases this may be understandable and required, in others it may be
seen as state interference. . There are many examples of this, for example * Driving while under the influence of alcohol has been regulated, this can result in impaired judgment
and an individual might not only harm themselves but also harm others. * Drug use rules making the use of many drugs for personal recreational use illegal common.
* Access to pornography has been limited, there are limits on what type of pornography are allowed, for example, child pornography is illegal, this protects those in the porn industry
and those who cannot protect themselves. Restrictions are also placed on who can access it by way of age, this prevents underage children suffering as a result of exposure.
* Freedom of expression is also regulated. While there are many laws protecting freedom of speech, there are also liable and slander laws as well as laws against inciting hatred.
