the question: Are the major battles of the Womens Movement won, or is there more to do? Discussion While there has been progress, the major battles havent been won. We
need only to look at the statistics for the number of women in top executive posts, and the disparity in mens and womens salaries to see that there is a
lot of work still to do. In addition, at times it appears that there is a backlash against women; men no longer discriminate openly against them, perhaps, but the attitude
that women are second-class citizens, or that they "belong" to the men with whom they are involved, still persists. A poll taken in 2005 indicates that a vast majority of
women (70%) do not identify themselves as feminists when asked the question directly; however, if they are told that a "feminist is someone who believes in social, political and economic
equality of the sexes" and then asked if they identify themselves as feminists, 65% said yes (Poll: Womens movement worthwhile). However, when asked if they thought a strong womens movement
was still needed, women split almost in half, with 48% saying yes and 45% saying no (Poll: Womens movement worthwhile). When men were asked about some of these issues,
not surprisingly, the answers were very different. Only 14% of men considered themselves feminists; 47% said the womens movement had made their lives better and 46% said it had made
